19/10/2023 ** Please Read **
Just a reminder that there is no weekly lessons from 30th October - 5th November as it is half term.

I know we have just started the new term for Wednesday, this week was week 2 and the weekend lessons new term starts this weekend, but I thought I would send out the next payment dates as unfortunately it is close to Christmas. So I thought I would give you as much notice as possible as to when it is.

Payment dates for the following term will be:

Wednesday & Thursday lessons: W/C Monday 4th December
Saturday & Sunday lessons: W/C Monday 11th December

Lessons will break up for Christmas from Sunday 17th December and resume from Wednesday 10th January.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
24/05/2023 * Update on school closure *
I have just spoken to the school and I’m afraid it’s not good news.

Lessons have to finish from Friday 26th May and cannot resume until Monday 11th September.

This is due to the heavy machinery and work being done around the school. There will be no access to the building at all, even for the school themselves.

The school only found out themselves late on Friday, which is why we only found out on Monday, after they had had a meeting in regards to it.

In the grand scheme of things it is only 6 weeks of lessons that we cannot hold, as lessons don’t go ahead in the last week of the summer term. So it sounds a lot worse than it actually is.

All lessons will resume from week commencing Monday 11th September. There will be no refunds. Lessons will resume from where they are now in the term.

We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause. As you can imagine, it is completely out of our control.
23/05/2023 * Please hold off sending messages regarding yesterdays announcement **
Please could parents hold off on messaging and asking questions in regards to what was sent yesterday.

I literally know as much as you, and am still waiting for the school to get back to me (I have sent 5+ emails and phoned numerous times, with no reply as yet).

The site manager should be phoning me tomorrow, so I should know more tomorrow hopefully. As soon as I have spoken to the school I will update everyone.

As you can imagine it is an extremely stressful situation. So please do not message asking if you’d be refunded or have a credit note.

As with any other situation when lessons cannot be held, lessons would resume as normal when lessons are able to start back, if the school do come back and say we cannot go back until September. No refunds will be given.

As mentioned, as soon as I know more, I will update everyone.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.
22/05/2023 ** News from the school **
We have just been sent an email by the school with a letter stating that the pool has to close from Friday 26th May until September 11th due to construction work that is going on at the school.

We are currently trying to get hold of the school to see if they can do a pathway to the pool as they are not doing any work on the pool or the building itself at all.

I’m hoping they will do this, even if it’s to a fire exit, and parents drop their children off. And parents and staff a park in side streets. From after half term until the summer holidays.

There should be no reason why they are unable to do this.

Obviously this is a major let down from the school as they are giving us 4 days notice and not communicated with us at all to have any sort of feedback or ideas from ourselves as to a way we can still hold lessons for the 7 weeks.

As soon as I have spoken to the school, I will inform you of what is said.

Kind regards
26/02/2023 ** PLEASE READ - important information for parents **
** Payment dates for the next term **

Payment for the next term will be due on the following dates:

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday Lessons:

Week commencing Monday 6th March

Saturday & Sunday Lessons:

If you would like to pay before the dates above, you are more than welcome to do so, please just let us know that you are paying early. You can pay via bank transfer or cash.

If you would be interested in attending a crash course in the Easter holidays if we are able to hold one, please contact us to let us know.

If you owe money for badges still, please could you bring the money (£3.50 per badge & certificate) when your child next attends their lessons.

From now on, we will only be accepting cash for badges & certificates, as we have found that we are continuously having to chase parents for payment of these.

We will remind you that it is badge week nearer to the time, so that you can ensure that you have change with you incase your child achieve anything.

Please could you also ensure that no children attend lessons with swimsuits with zips on the back. This ensures that children are able to take them off and put them back on easily if they need to go to the toilet during lessons.

11/10/2021 DISTANCE BADGES
When doing distance badges, anything over 10m MUST be completed by using proper strokes and swimmers MUST be continuously swimming. So these must be completed by doing the correct frontcrawl stroke, breathing to the side, absolutely no stopping for a break or standing up. If a child was to stand up, where they stop would be the distance that they receive.

Anything that is completed under 10m, children MUST be putting their face in the water and coming up to breathe. If a child is unable to put their face in the water, they will not be able to attempt to do a distance badge.

We know of other swim schools that are allowing children to stop for a breather and not performing correct strokes. These swim schools are awarding children badges when swimming with their face out of the water. These do NOT comply with Swim Wales standards. If children are completing distances in small pools, for example, a pool that is only 10m long, they would not be able to swim a long distance in a bigger pool as they are too used to stopping at the wall in the smaller pool.
11/10/2021 ** Learning Framework **
We thought we’d put some information up for parents to see. Especially if you’re coming to us from other swim schools that may not follow the framework that we do.

We follow the Swim Wales Learn To Swim framework.

The 4 Sections of Learn to Swim Wales:

SPLASH
The foundation and introduction to the aquatic environment, aimed at adults and children, and children independently developing skills in the water. This section is aimed at children between 4 months to 3 years plus.

WAVE
The main ‘Learn to Swim’ area. Children from age 4 are taught the necessary swimming and aquatic skills to swim and to take part in other aquatic activities such as water polo. They also are taught vital water safety skills so that they learn how to be safe in and around water.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS
There are 3 complementary award criteria that teachers could award to children in recognition of progress and achievement. These include distance awards (starting from 5 metres through to 5000 metres), Personal Survival and Swim Challenge awards that complement the delivery of Waves 5, 6 and 7.

SKILLS
This section of the pathway breaks into the various aquatic disciplines of swimming, water polo, diving, synchronised swimming and life saving. Skills taught in the Waves are progressed and developed with specific emphasis on being discipline specific. These classes can either be delivered in a Learn to Swim programme or at the introductory section of clubs.
11/10/2021 ** Arrive on time **
Please can all parents/guardians ensure that children arrive to their lesson on time.

This is 5 minutes before their lesson is due to start. If you are any later than 5 minutes after the class has started, your child will not be allowed in as this disrupts the whole lesson for the children that have arrived on time.

Please also make sure you are on time for the end of your child’s lesson. Parents are to arrive 5 minutes before the end of the lesson and should be waiting in the changing rooms for when the children are brought to parents at the end of their lesson. Lessons are still 25 minutes long.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.
11/10/2021 ** Only 1 parent/guardian **
As stated in all of our procedures, only ONE parent/guardian PER FAMILY is allowed in the building to change children after their lessons.

This is due to strict restricted numbers allowed in the building at a time.

Thank you for your understanding.
09/10/2021 ** New Classes **

Wave 1: 5 spaces
